Abstract
In a pilot study the classification indicated in the NOSIE-30 questionnaire was modified by the criterion of whether or not the item permitted a "positive" or "negative" appraisal of the patient. The results reflect the perspective the nursing staff has of offenders with mental disorders in the mirror image. On an average older nurses with more professional experience tend to view the patients more critically. It seems that novices have a more "positive" view of the patient. Irrespectively of concrete results, it appears to be indispensable to define a function of the nursing staff in a different structural change of the department in the direction of a therapeutic community.
