Abstract
In a six month period (2nd and 3rd quarter of 1994) a total of 439 patients in a detoxification ward were studied. In this process 358 data per patient were sampled. We distinguished patients who committed a para-suicide from those who did not. We found out that patients with an alcohol disorder and one of the following factors were significantly more likely to commit a para-suicide: Divorce, periods of homelessness in the biography and one or more delinquencies. The Lesch-Typology Computer System seems to be an easy to handle tool to distinguish between patients with alcohol disorder and depression (Typ III), who are in a risk to commit suicide especially in periods of abstinence and patients with alcohol disorder and biological vulnerability, who have a lower risk to commit suicide. With this key information available psychotherapy and pharmacological support can be delivered more precise.
